After months of anticipation, Tesla has officially unveiled the refreshed Model 3, known as “Project Highland.” The electric vehicle (EV) has made its debut in several markets, but availability varies across regions.
As of the recent launch, the updated Model 3 is now accessible for customers in all left-hand drive (LHD) European countries with a Tesla presence and the Middle East. Deliveries are expected to commence as early as October, with options limited to the rear-wheel-drive Standard Range and dual-motor all-wheel-drive Long Range versions.
In a recent update on Tesla’s official website, it was revealed that the revised Model 3 is also available in certain right-hand drive (RHD) markets, including Australia and New Zealand. Orders from these regions are projected to be fulfilled between January and March of 2024.
However, the United Kingdom and Ireland, also RHD markets, will continue to receive the previous version of the EV, with no clear timeline for the arrival of the facelifted Model 3.
Curiously, all of these regions source their Model 3 units from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory in China. Yet, the reason behind the differing availability timelines remains undisclosed.
Japan, where traffic drives on the left side of the road, will begin receiving the new Model 3 Highland units starting in December 2023.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico are still awaiting their turn for the refreshed Model 3, with production set to commence later this year at Tesla’s Fremont factory.
