Tesla has initiated the rollout of its latest software update, version 2024.8, introducing a new one-time charge limit feature and adding support for adaptive high beams in select regions.
The software update, which is currently being deployed to Tesla vehicles, includes the new one-time charge feature. It also introduces support for adaptive high beams in Europe, specifically for the redesigned Model S and Model X vehicles, as well as the Model Y and legacy Model 3 units, as previously reported by Not a Tesla App.

We just started rolling this out to older hardware capable 3/Y/S/X cars in Europe with 2024.8 – great work by the teams to get this going and approved! More regions and features to follow as we get necessary certifications.

While the adaptive high beams are initially being rolled out in Europe, Tesla has plans to expand the feature’s availability to the United States in the near future. Lars Moravy, Tesla’s Head of Vehicle Engineering, indicated that the feature would begin rolling out on Monday, with “more regions and features” to be added subsequently.

The adaptive high beams function by using sensors to detect other road users, such as drivers and cyclists, automatically adjusting the high beams to reduce glare for them. The release notes also highlight that the high beams will remain on more frequently for improved nighttime visibility, thanks to the selective dimming of individual pixels in the headlights to accommodate those outside the vehicle.
Drivers can activate the new headlight feature from the vehicle’s Lights menu, found under the Adaptive High Beams setting.

Another notable addition is the one-time charge limit option, which allows drivers to set a temporary charge limit when preparing for a road trip. If the normal charge limit is raised above the daily driving recommendation, Tesla vehicles will now offer the option to set a one-time charge limit. After the trip, the vehicle will automatically revert to the previous daily charge limit.
The adaptive headlights feature was initially introduced with the upgraded Model 3 launched by Tesla in Europe and other markets last year. The company later introduced the refreshed vehicle in North America in January, which also includes this feature.
