Tesla said it will take part in China’s annual import expo next month, marking its return to the high-profile trade event after missing last year’s edition. The company confirmed on Weibo that it will appear at Booth A3-03 in Hall 2.1 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

The American electric vehicle maker will display its Cybercab robotaxi for the first time in the Asia-Pacific region at the upcoming 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will run from November 5 to 10. “Tesla’s Cybercab robotaxi will make its Asia-Pacific debut at the event,” the company said on Weibo.

Tesla first participated in the inaugural CIIE in 2018 and maintained its presence for six consecutive years before skipping the 2023 event. Last year’s edition featured automakers including General Motors, Ford Motor, Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

The Cybercab was unveiled in the United States in October 2024, with Chief Executive Elon Musk saying the company aims to produce at least 2 million units annually. The vehicle has recently been seen undergoing public road tests in the U.S., as Tesla prepares for mass production next year.

Tesla’s return to the Shanghai event comes as its sales growth in China has slowed this year. The company faces intensifying competition from local electric vehicle manufacturers, including Xpeng, which will hold its annual AI Day on November 5 to highlight developments in physical AI and autonomous technologies.
