Tesla is preparing subtle updates to its Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles in China, according to certification documents released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The changes are focused on functionality and comfort rather than major structural redesigns.

For the Model 3, the updates include the addition of a front bumper blind-spot camera and a blacked-out Tesla logo, reflecting recent design trends and previously anticipated features. The sedan has also seen the return of the turn signal stalk to production models. The refresh appears to emphasize incremental improvements to safety and aesthetics.

The Model Y will receive upgrades aimed at enhancing the interior experience. Certification documents indicate a wider rollout of the 16-inch QHD touchscreen, already available on higher trims, along with new power-adjustable seat leg rests designed to improve passenger comfort on longer trips.

These updates are consistent with Tesla’s strategy of continuous product enhancement, which frequently introduces incremental improvements outside of traditional model-year cycles. While the changes are initially appearing in China, similar updates could eventually be applied to vehicles in other regions, including North America.

The certifications suggest that these refreshed Model 3 and Model Y variants could arrive in China in the near term, providing customers in the country with updated options for Tesla’s popular EV lineup.
