Tesla has announced its intention to extend the Cybertruck’s global presence with a forthcoming tour in Japan, following the vehicle’s recent success in China. The announcement, made by Tesla Japan on Tuesday via X, featured a teaser video showcasing the Cybertruck’s arrival in Japan, hinting at an upcoming display tour across the country.
The teaser video depicted the Cybertruck being unloaded from a plane and transported to a display warehouse, concluding with the words “Japan, see you soon.” Additionally, Tesla has provided Japanese residents with the opportunity to suggest locations for the Cybertruck tour by submitting their preferences through a contact form on the company’s events site until February 29.

This development comes on the heels of Tesla’s Cybertruck tour launch in China, initiated just weeks after CEO Elon Musk’s acknowledgment of challenges in obtaining road-legal status for the vehicle in the country. Despite regulatory hurdles, Tesla swiftly introduced display models across eight major cities in mainland China following the Cybertruck’s arrival.
Speculation has arisen regarding potential tours in Germany and other parts of Europe, despite regulatory complexities similar to those faced in China. Stringent pedestrian safety regulations in Europe and China have been cited as barriers to Cybertruck road-legalization efforts.
Tesla ceased accepting Cybertruck orders in China and Europe in 2022, with concerns over regulatory compliance inhibiting its market penetration in these regions. Tesla’s VP of Vehicle Engineering, however, shed light on the challenges posed by European regulations, specifically regarding the vehicle’s design elements, including protruding edges.
The Cybertruck’s forthcoming tour in Japan reflects the enthusiasm surrounding the unique electric pickup, evident in the crowds observed at display events in China and the U.S. Tesla fans worldwide eagerly anticipate the opportunity to witness the Cybertruck firsthand, despite regulatory hurdles impeding its widespread adoption in certain markets.
