Tesla Officially Opens First V4 Supercharger

Tesla has just announced the opening of its first V4 Supercharging stalls in Europe, located at a new station in Harderwijk, Netherlands. The V4 stalls feature a taller design and a longer cable, attached at the top, to provide easy access for more electric vehicles, especially non-Tesla EVs, which may have charging inlets in different locations.

The new V4 stalls are currently in a pilot rollout and are only available for Tesla cars. However, if everything works correctly, Tesla will include the station in the non-Tesla Supercharging pilot program in Europe, which is the ultimate goal.

The power output of the new V4 stalls is the same as the V3 version, with a 250 kilowatts DC output. It is equipped with CCS Combo 2 plugs, which are natively used by most new cars in Europe, including Tesla, and older Tesla models can use the CCS2 chargers through an adapter.

There are currently over 11,000 Supercharging stalls in Europe, and the new V4 stalls will make non-Tesla Supercharging more available. The V4 stalls’ primary focus is to increase access to charging for non-Tesla EVs, while the possibility of higher power output and voltage remains a consideration for the future.

Visitors to the new station have noted the Superchargers’ aesthetic design, with no displays or authentication devices needed for Tesla vehicles, as they communicate with the network automatically. Non-Tesla EVs can use the stalls through the Tesla app.

The opening of the first V4 Supercharging stalls in Europe marks an important step forward in the growth and accessibility of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, especially for non-Tesla owners. It will be fascinating to see how quickly the network expands to include more V4 versions.
