Tesla has introduced a promotional offer for buyers of its Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV in North America. The electric car manufacturer revealed that customers purchasing these models can avail six months of complimentary Supercharging by utilizing a valid referral link and completing their vehicle delivery before December 31.
This move is in line with Tesla’s strategy of providing additional incentives to stimulate sales, particularly towards the end of the year or specific quarter closes. Last December, the company offered discounts of up to $7,500 on inventory Model 3 and Model Y units and provided up to 10,000 miles of Supercharging credits for eligible deliveries within the specified timeframe.

Notably, Tesla has occasionally offered free Supercharging in various circumstances, including instances such as providing free charging for Model 3 inventory buyers in North America last June. The company has also extended this perk to conflict-affected regions, as witnessed in Israel last month and areas around Ukraine last year.
This latest initiative follows Tesla’s recent report of slightly missing Wall Street delivery estimates for Q3. Despite this, the company maintains its ambitious goal of selling 1.8 million units by the end of 2023. To achieve this target, Tesla would need to deliver nearly 500,000 units in the current quarter, surpassing its previous record of 466,140 cars delivered in Q2.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk had previously anticipated a dip in sales for Q3 during the second-quarter earnings call, attributing it to production upgrades causing temporary factory shutdowns.
The offer coincides with Tesla’s achievement of surpassing 2,000 active Supercharger stations in the U.S. alone last month. Additionally, the company has commenced the deployment of its V4 Superchargers in the country over the past few months.
On Tesla’s official website, a notice advises potential buyers that reductions to the federal electric vehicle (EV) tax credit are likely for some models in 2024. It encourages buyers to take delivery by the year’s end to secure the full $7,500 credit. This advisory precedes the U.S. government’s modification of the EV tax credit program for 2024, which will provide buyers instant access to credits upon purchase, eliminating the need to wait until tax season.
