For years, many people think that the design of a car key is a trivial thing that doesn’t need attention. This thought seems to have also been carried out by Tesla.

In a recent report, Tesla said that every customer who buys a Tesla will not get the key, and only the car unit will come. This was done because a Tesla survey showed that their customers prefer to access their cars using smartphones rather than car keys.

Tesla has known this for a long time when they launched the Model 3 and Model Y without the key fob. This plan has even begun to be expanded since July 1, and has received a pretty good response from customers. However, if a customer wants an additional car key, they can purchase it as an additional option for $175.

Automotive experts say eliminating the key fob will be a new era for the automotive industry. This is because sooner or later, manufacturers around the world will begin to follow suit.

In addition to saving production costs, Tesla also said that removing car keys could minimize plastic waste and electronic waste in the key fob.
