The Tesla Model 3 has excelled in the Green NCAP test, earning a 5-star safety rating with an impressive average score of 98%. The Green NCAP hailed the Model 3 as one of the most energy-efficient vehicles it has ever tested, specifically highlighting the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) variant.
The Model 3 RWD achieved outstanding results, scoring 10/10 on the Clean Air Index, 9.7/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.8/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index. The perfect score in the Clean Air Index is expected, given the vehicle’s zero tailpipe emissions. In the Energy Efficiency Tests, the Model 3 RWD earned “Good” ratings across all categories, with one “adequate” rating in the Cold Ambient Test of the Greenhouse Gases Tests.

Green NCAP emphasized the impressive consumption values of the Model 3, stating that the new Model 3 recorded some of the lowest results ever documented in their tests. The vehicle achieved consumption values of 15.2 kWh/100 km in the standard Cold Lab Test and 14.8 kWh/100 km in the Warm Lab Test. The Model 3 also set a new Highway Test record with a consumption of 20.8 kWh/100 km.
In terms of greenhouse gas emissions, the fully electric Model 3’s estimated emissions are minimal, originating solely from upstream electricity supply processes. These emissions range from approximately 43 g CO2 eq./km in the standard Lab Test to 76 g CO2 eq./km in the Cold Ambient Test. Green NCAP concluded that the new Model 3’s performance in these tests reaffirms Tesla’s engineering achievements, with the car receiving a 98% average score and earning 5 Green stars.
