Tesla has updated its US Model Y configurator, incorporating two new colors—Ultra Red and Stealth Grey—previously exclusive to the Model S and Model X. This change marks a departure from Tesla’s infrequent alterations to its color palette, introducing options that closely resemble existing ones.
Last year, Tesla introduced Ultra Red in March and Stealth Grey in October for the Model S and Model X in the US. Despite the anticipation, these colors remained unavailable for the Model Y in the country. Now, US Model Y customers have the opportunity to choose between the new colors, which replace two previous options: Midnight Silver Metallic and Multi-Coat Red.

Stealth Grey has been designated as the “included” color, offering customers a $0-cost option in place of Midnight Silver Metallic. Meanwhile, the new Ultra Red is available as a $2,000 option.

While the online configurator provides a glimpse of these colors, real-world comparisons suggest that they are somewhat darker or richer versions of their predecessors. Tesla’s website, known for enhancing color saturation, may not present an entirely realistic representation of the colors.

These additions mark the first introduction of new colors for the US Model Y since its launch. Despite being a subtle shift, the replacements—grey and red variants—offer customers slightly different versions of the original choices.
