Shanghai Gigafactory will reportedly again suspend production for at least one more day due to the lockdown imposed by the Shanghai authorities due to the rise in Covid-19 infections.

The Shanghai Gigafactory will suspend production on Monday. Tesla has not yet told employees whether the shutdown will extend beyond Monday. Bloomberg said in a report Sunday

The city of Shanghai itself will implement a gradual lockdown for Covid-19 testing, the city government said in an announcement yesterday evening.

The Shanghai Gigafactory is east of the Huangpu River. Areas east of the Huangpu River will be locked from March 28 at 5:00 to April 1 at 5:00. Areas west of the Huangpu River will be locked from April 1 at 3:00 to April 5 at 3:00.

Shanghai on Sunday confirmed 50 new Covid cases and another 3,450 asymptomatic cases, CCTV reported on Monday.

In the middle of this month, the Shanghai Gigafactory suspended production for two days on March 16 and March 17, and resumed production on March 18 due to Covid tests.

Tesla sold 56,515 Chinese-made vehicles in February, 33,315 for exports including to Europe and 23,200 for China’s domestic needs, according to data released earlier this month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
