Tesla has opened its third electric vehicle charging hub in India, expanding its charging network in the country with a new site in Gurugram, a satellite city of the national capital New Delhi, the company said.

The latest charging hub is located in a surface car park at the DLF One Horizon Centre, roughly 10 kilometres north-west of Tesla’s recently opened all-in-one Tesla Centre in Gurugram, which began operations at the end of last month.

The new facility is equipped with four V4 DC Superchargers offering charging speeds of up to 250 kW, alongside three AC Destination Chargers with a maximum output of 11 kW. Tesla said Supercharger usage at the site is priced at 24 rupees per kWh, while Destination Charger rates are 14 rupees per kWh.

Tesla currently sells only the Model Y in India, offering customers a choice between Standard Range rear-wheel drive and Long Range rear-wheel drive variants. The Standard Range version supports DC fast charging of up to 175 kW, adding up to 238 km of range in 15 minutes, while the Long Range variant can charge at the full 250 kW, adding about 267 km of range in the same time.

The company lists a maximum driving range of up to 500 km for the Standard Range Model Y and 661 km for the Long Range version, based on the WLTP testing cycle. Tesla said the Standard Range variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range model achieves the same in 5.6 seconds, with both capped at a top speed of 201 km/h.

Reliability of public charging infrastructure remains a concern in India, despite rapid expansion. Addressing this issue, Sharad Agarwal, Tesla’s country head in India, said the Gurugram charging hub would offer high operational reliability. “Our charging hub in Gurugram will have a 99.95% uptime,” Agarwal said.

In addition to Gurugram, Tesla operates charging hubs in New Delhi and Mumbai, where it has also established showrooms and service centres. The company has said it plans to open another charging hub in Bengaluru, one of India’s leading cities for electric vehicle adoption.
