As Tesla prepares for the start of production for the highly anticipated Cybertruck, a new beta prototype has been spotted in California without a visible wiper. This has reignited the “megawiper” debate among prospective buyers.

The Cybertruck beta prototypes have been used for testing purposes and are said to be close to the production version. However, there have been several changes made along the way, and the wiper has been a particularly hot topic among fans of the electric pickup truck.

Early prototypes featured a large, visible wiper that looked out of place and unlike traditional vehicles where it stays tucked next to the hood. CEO Elon Musk previously stated that this design would not make it to production, but the beta prototypes spotted in the wild still featured it.

The latest sighting, posted on the Cybertruck Owners’ forum, shows a new prototype without any visible wiper. Instead, something is sticking out where the base of the wiper used to be. It remains unclear whether this was a one-off design decision or a change that will be implemented in production models.

Some prospective buyers have been requesting more traditional wipers that tuck inside the base of the hood, but it is uncertain whether there is enough space for this on the Cybertruck.

With Tesla’s recent announcement that it aims to bring the Cybertruck to production this summer, anticipation continues to grow. However, significant deliveries are not expected until 2024, when the automaker will ramp up to volume production.

As we keep a close eye on future sightings of the Cybertruck prototype, it will be interesting to see if there are any further changes to the wiper design. Regardless, the Cybertruck is sure to make a splash in the EV market when it finally hits the roads.
