A prototype of the highly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted arriving in New Zealand by plane, suggesting that the electric pickup truck is undergoing final winter testing. With approximately 1.5 million reservation holders eagerly awaiting the vehicle’s release, there has been significant interest in when deliveries will commence and in what quantities.

Tesla has stated that a delivery event is planned for “around the end of Q3,” which aligns with the end of September 2023. Earlier indications from Tesla to suppliers pointed to the release of Cybertruck prototypes in late August, followed by production starting in early October.

The sighting of a Tesla Cybertruck prototype being unloaded from a plane at a New Zealand airport is another positive sign of progress towards production. Despite the vehicle being concealed, its distinct design makes it easily recognizable as the electric pickup truck.

Tesla has a history of utilizing local proving grounds in New Zealand for winter testing, particularly during the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere when its Alaskan proving grounds are less suitable. While the Cybertruck has already undergone winter testing in Alaska, this latest phase in New Zealand is likely the final testing phase prior to production.

With its anticipated all-wheel-drive system, rear-steering, and up to 4 motors, the Cybertruck is expected to excel in challenging snowy and icy conditions. Tesla’s focus on rigorous testing and continuous refinement underscores their commitment to delivering a high-performing electric vehicle that meets the expectations of its enthusiastic customer base. As the Cybertruck inches closer to its official launch, excitement among reservation holders and electric vehicle enthusiasts continues to build.
