Tesla has started nationwide deliveries of the Model Y L in China, a six-seat variant of its best-selling SUV launched in late August, the company said on Monday.
“The first nationwide deliveries of the Model Y L have officially begun,” Tesla announced on Chinese social media platform Weibo. Customers placing new orders are expected to receive delivery in October, according to Tesla’s China website.
Priced from 339,000 yuan ($47,460), the Model Y L sits alongside the existing five-seat rear-wheel-drive and long-range all-wheel-drive versions, which are priced at 263,500 yuan and 313,500 yuan respectively. Current delivery times for the five-seat variants are one to three weeks.
The Model Y L is equipped with an 82.0-kWh ternary lithium battery pack from South Korea’s LG Energy Solution, offering a CLTC range of 751 kilometers – slightly above the 750-km range of the five-seat long-range Model Y. By comparison, the five-seat rear-wheel-drive version uses a 62.5-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, providing 593 km of range.
Measuring 4,976 mm in length with a 3,040 mm wheelbase, the Model Y L is larger than the five-seat version, which has a 4,797 mm length and 2,890 mm wheelbase. The new variant is expected to support Tesla’s sales momentum in China, its largest overseas market.
