Tata Power, through its subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has installed more than 850 charging points for electric buses in India. This initiative is part of Tata Power’s efforts to expand its renewable energy business and promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.
The extensive charging network established by Tata Power is playing a crucial role in making electric buses a norm in public transport in many Indian cities. TPREL has strategically placed these charging points in over 30 bus depots in prominent cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, among others.

Dr. Praveer Sinha, MD and CEO of Tata Power, highlighted the company’s commitment to the EV sector, stating, “We have nearly 86,000 home chargers and more than 5,500 public chargers. Tata Power aims to install approximately 25,000 EV charging points in India by 2028.”
TPREL’s electric bus charging points include fast chargers capable of delivering power at rates ranging from 180 to 240 kW, with an average charging time of 1 to 1.5 hours. This network has facilitated the operation of more than 2,300 public electric buses across the country, benefiting various state transport corporations.

In addition to its EV charging network, Tata Power is actively involved in renewable energy generation, including wind and solar energy. The company has an operational capacity of 14,790 MW, with 40% or 5,930 MW coming from clean energy sources. Its diverse portfolio also includes solar roof solutions, energy transmission and distribution, and consultancy services.
