Tata Motors, the Indian car manufacturer, has announced a major fleet order for its electric cars. OHM E Logistics, a taxi company based in Hyderabad, has ordered 1,000 units of Tata’s XPRES T EV compact electric car, which will be delivered in stages. This order is the latest in a series of large fleet orders that Tata has received for its electric cars.
Tata Motors launched its subsidiary, XPRES, in July 2021 to cater to fleet customers. The XPRES T EV was the first vehicle model launched by the subsidiary. According to Tata Motors’ own figures, it has already delivered over 50,000 electric cars to private and fleet customers.

The XPRES T EV electric sedan is available in two different battery options, with a range of 315 km and 277 km respectively. The batteries have high energy densities of 26 kWh and 25.5 kWh, and can be charged from 0-80% in 59 minutes and 110 minutes respectively using fast charging. Charging via a 15 Ampere plug point is also possible.
“This order of 1000 XPRES T EVs will help [OHM E Logistics] enrich their electric cab services in Hyderabad. Through our XPRES-T EV sedans, we have created a new benchmark in the sustainable fleet market segment, currently commanding a market share of over 90%,” said Ramesh Dorairajan, Senior General Manager – Network Management & EV Sales, Tata Motors.
The XPRES T EV is designed to offer low cost of ownership, safety, and passenger comfort, making it an attractive proposition for fleet owners and operators. In addition to this recent order, Tata has also received another major fleet order for 25,000 BEVs from Uber in India. A local electric-only ride-hailing service, Expres, has also ordered a fleet of 2,000 electric vehicles.

Tata Motors is well on its way to becoming a leader in the Indian electric vehicle market. With a range of electric cars and utility vehicles, and a comprehensive charging infrastructure plan, Tata is positioning itself to be a major player in the future of sustainable mobility.
