Talaria, a notable player in the electric trail bike segment, has made a bold move by introducing its latest model, the Talaria Dragon. This new addition signifies a notable departure from the recreational trail bike category and firmly plants the company in the realm of full-fledged electric dirt bikes.
Recently showcased at the EICMA 2023 Milan Motorcycle Show, the Talaria Dragon has garnered significant attention, offering an impressive upgrade over its predecessor, the Talaria XXX.
The Talaria XXX, renowned for its impressive specifications, featured a 6 kW peak motor and a top speed of nearly 50 mph (80 km/h). However, the newly unveiled Talaria Dragon takes the performance up a notch, boasting a remarkable peak power rating of 28 kW (37.5 hp) and a top speed that approaches 70 mph (110 km/h). The bike’s rear wheel torque is equally remarkable, rated at 630 Nm (464 lb-ft) with a 48T sprocket, allowing for adjustments in the drive ratio to affect the top speed and torque.

The Talaria Dragon also exhibits a larger physical presence, elevating the saddle height to 35 inches (90 cm) and increasing the total weight to 220 lb (100 kg). Notably, a significant portion of the weight can be reduced by removing the 55-pound (25 kg) battery, a feature that sets electric dirt bikes apart from their combustion engine counterparts.
The battery itself is an 88V unit with a capacity of 58.5 Ah, equating to just under 5,200 Wh of capacity. Talaria claims that the Talaria Dragon can achieve a maximum range of 93 miles (150 km) when ridden at a steady speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h), although few riders are likely to resist pushing it to its limits.
The bike’s design includes a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. It features an adjustable high-performance air and spring fork in the front, offering 250 mm (10 inches) of travel. In the rear, riders will find an adjustable 90 mm travel shock. The Talaria Dragon is also equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, a 520-102 chain, and a color TFT display.
At the EICMA 2023 event, Talaria presented two versions of the Dragon. The first variant was configured for street legality, complete with a horn and turn signals. It also featured pillion pegs, allowing riders to accommodate a passenger. The second model, tailored for off-road use, lacked additional equipment for on-road homologation. It’s worth noting that the bike has not yet received homologation for the U.S. or Europe, despite Talaria showcasing what appears to be a street-ready version.
Pricing details have not been disclosed as of yet, and Talaria has not officially outlined its production plans. Eric Hicks, founder of Luna Cycle and a key Talaria dealer in the U.S., indicated that the Talaria Dragon is likely to make its North American debut via Luna Cycle in late 2024.
