Suzuki Motor Corporation has introduced the e Every, a battery-electric mini commercial van for the Japanese market developed jointly with Daihatsu Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corporation.

The vehicle is supplied to Suzuki by Daihatsu on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis and represents the latest collaboration among the three automakers in Japan’s kei vehicle segment.

The e Every is powered by a 36.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that provides a driving range of 257 kilometers under the Worldwide-harmonized Light vehicles Test Cycle (WLTC), according to Suzuki.

The electric van features an integrated eAxle system combining the motor, inverter and transaxle. Suzuki said the drivetrain delivers torque that exceeds that of a turbocharged kei-class vehicle.

To improve stability and ride comfort, the battery pack is mounted beneath the floor, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity and helping reduce the impact of uneven road surfaces.

The van offers a maximum cargo load capacity of 350 kilograms and is available in both two-seat and four-seat configurations.

Suzuki said the model will be offered in three body colors and includes several standard safety and convenience features.

These include Daihatsu’s Smart Assist preventive safety system, adaptive driving beam headlamps and side view lamps. An optional digital rearview mirror is also available to improve visibility when the cargo area is loaded or when driving at night.

The e Every is also equipped with external power supply capability, allowing the vehicle to provide electricity during emergencies such as power outages.
