Suzuki, Daihatsu, and Toyota Set to Launch Electric Mini-Commercial Van by 2025

Suzuki, Daihatsu, and Toyota have announced plans to release a jointly developed battery electric vehicle (BEV) mini-commercial van by fiscal 2025. This collaboration aims to cater to the delivery industry’s need for practical and sustainable transportation options, supporting carbon neutrality initiatives.

The mini-commercial van will combine Suzuki and Daihatsu’s experience in designing compact vehicles with Toyota’s advanced electrification technology. It will feature a BEV system specifically designed for the demands of mini-commercial vehicles, ensuring efficiency in last-mile logistics. Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation (CJPT) has also been involved in the planning process to develop a vehicle with optimal specifications for the logistics sector.

This initiative follows the 2022 announcement of a partnership between Suzuki, Daihatsu, Toyota, and CJPT, focusing on the development of electric commercial mini-vans. The three companies are committed to overcoming challenges related to rising electrification costs, charging infrastructure, and charging time. The collaboration aims to deliver cost-effective solutions that will benefit logistics fleets and help meet the sustainability goals of the transportation sector.
