Suzuki and SkyDrive agree to develop flying cars

Suzuki Motor Corp and SkyDrive Inc, on Tuesday (22/3/2022) announced that they had signed an agreement to collaborate on research, development and marketing of flying cars.

In the official statement of the two companies, as quoted by Reuters, the initial focus of the two companies was India. In that country, Suzuki controls half of the automotive market share.

Suzuki on Sunday (20/3/2022) yesterday announced plans to invest 104.4 billion rupees in India, to produce batteries and electric cars.

The flying car that will be developed by Suzuki and SkyDrive will have vertical take-off and landing technology, as well as using electric power.

However, there is no more detailed information about the investment and development schedule or production of flying cars developed by the two companies.

Founded in 2018, SkyDrive Inc is a flying car company headquartered in Tokyo. Its shareholders are Japanese giants such as Itochu Corp, NEC Corp and Eneos Holding Inc.

Currently SkyDrive is developing a compact electric car with a capacity of two passengers. The flying car is planned to be mass produced soon. SkyDrive plans to launch a flying taxi service in Osaka in 2025.
