At the Power2Drive trade show in Munich, Sungrow Charging unveiled its latest fast-charging solution—the compact IDC480E-C—designed to meet the increasing demand for high-performance electric vehicle charging across Europe. The new system builds on Sungrow’s charging technology portfolio and introduces a modular, high-efficiency charger featuring the company’s proprietary insulated air cooling system.
At the heart of the IDC480E-C is a 40 kW power module that achieves an efficiency of over 97 percent. The system’s modular architecture allows for flexible scaling, enabling customers to configure output capacities ranging from 240 kW up to 480 kW. The charger is aimed at logistics companies and public charging operators looking for robust, future-ready solutions.
“The IDC480E-C represents a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener and interconnected future,” said Robert von Wahl, Director EV Charging Europe at Sungrow. “Its modular scalability, smart charging flexibility, high efficiency and low maintenance requirements are designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers and support the rapid growth of EV infrastructure across Europe.”
Sungrow already markets a high-power charging system under the name IDC480E, which delivers up to 480 kW and is used at installations like the ‘Backcharge Heavy’ charging park in Germany.
Unlike the IDC480E-C, the original IDC480E houses its power modules externally, delivering efficiency rates of up to 96.5 percent and supporting dynamic power allocation in 30 kW increments over a 200 to 1,000-volt range.
Designed for longevity, the IDC480E-C boasts a projected service life of more than 10 years, thanks to its IP65-rated enclosure, C5 anti-corrosion protection, and Sungrow’s isolated air-cooling system.
The unit supports multiple dispenser configurations, including up to four connectors with air cooling and three with liquid cooling, tailored for high-traffic environments. Sungrow’s latest offering is positioned to support Europe’s rapidly expanding EV charging network with a focus on efficiency, durability, and adaptability.
