Subaru Europe said the all-electric Subaru Solterra has received a maximum five-star overall rating from the 2025 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), surpassing minimum requirements across all four tested categories: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist. In its announcement, the company stated the SUV “demonstrates the high level of protection and assist-system performance expected of Subaru vehicles.”

The Solterra delivered an 88% score in Adult Occupant protection, achieving maximum points in occupant-interaction assessments and side mobile-barrier testing. Euro NCAP reported that the passenger compartment remained stable during frontal offset impacts, with dummy readings showing good protection for the knees and femurs of both the driver and front passenger. Protection levels were deemed consistent for occupants of different sizes and seating positions. Rear-end whiplash protection for both front and rear seats was rated as good.

In Child Occupant protection, the vehicle scored 85%, receiving full points in lateral-impact testing and Child Restraint System (CRS) installation checks. Testing showed strong results for both child dummies, with the 6-year-old dummy receiving a good rating in frontal offset tests and all critical areas well-protected in side impacts. The SUV accommodates all approved CRS types for the model, and includes a Rear Seat Reminder to prompt the driver to check the back seats if accessed prior to departure.

The Solterra also performed strongly in Safety Assist evaluations, earning maximum points for lane support and seatbelt-reminder systems. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system performed well in AEB Car-to-Car assessments, showing effective collision-avoidance capabilities. Lane Tracing Assist provided corrective intervention in situations where the vehicle drifted from its intended path.
