The Cadillac OPTIQ, a new electric compact SUV from the United States, has earned a five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety testing, reflecting its performance across multiple safety categories.
The vehicle scored 83 percent for Adult Occupant Protection, 81 percent for Child Occupant Protection, 76 percent for Vulnerable Road User protection, and 74 percent for Safety Assist, placing it ahead of several other small EVs in the European market.

“There have been times in the past when U.S. vehicles have fallen well short of the safety standards European consumers take for granted. But the performance of the Cadillac shows that America’s car makers can hold their own against the establishment from Europe and Asia,” said Dr. Aled Williams, Programme Director at Euro NCAP.
The OPTIQ is designed to compete with other compact SUVs, combining structural safety, airbag deployment systems, and occupant protection features. Its strong performance in testing demonstrates adherence to current European safety standards.

Other recent Euro NCAP assessments of small EVs showed varying results. Affordable models, such as the Dongfeng BOX, received three stars, while Volkswagen Group vehicles including the Audi Q3, Škoda Octavia, Volkswagen Golf, and ID.4 received five stars, and the VW T-Cross was rated three stars.
Euro NCAP noted that U.S. manufacturers have occasionally lagged behind European competitors in safety performance, but the OPTIQ’s results suggest that current models can meet rigorous testing protocols.
“Striving toward the highest possible safety rating is in the consumer’s best interest,” Williams added.
The five-star rating of the Cadillac OPTIQ positions the model as a noteworthy entry in Europe’s expanding electric compact SUV market.
