Subaru has just unveiled two concept electric vehicles, the STI E-RA CONCEPT and SOLTERRA STI CONCEPT, at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The STI E-RA CONCEPT is a concept electric racing car developed with the aim of accumulating experience with new technologies in the racing world for a carbon neutral era.

The first objective of the concept car was to try to clock a lap time of 400 seconds (6 minutes 40 seconds) at the Nürburgring circuit.

The STI E-RA CONCEPT has four high torque electric motors located near each of the four wheels. This makes Subaru adopt the newly adopted 4-wheel 4-motor torque vectoring technology. This increases the grip level to the maximum and stabilizes the position of the car body.

The STI E-RA CONCEPT uses an electric motor supplied by Yamaha, driven by a 60kWH lithium-ion battery. The total power output of the STI E-RA is 800 kilowatts or about 1,073 hp.

The SOLTERRA STI CONCEPT is based on the all-electric Solterra SUV that will make its world debut in November 2021. Featuring a roof spoiler, cherry red bottom spoiler and other special parts on the exterior, this model inspires Subaru’s superior driving dynamics.
