Stellantis has reached an agreement with trade unions for 350 voluntary job reductions at its Pomigliano and Pratola Serra plants in southern Italy, the Fiom u nion said on Wednesday.
A Stellantis spokesperson confirmed that the layoffs would involve employees nearing retirement and are part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance production in Italy, as outlined in discussions with the Italian government in December.

The job reductions include 300 workers from the Pomigliano assembly plant and 50 from the Pratola Serra engine facility, both located in the Campania region, according to Fiom. The union, which did not sign the agreement, noted the impact on employment in its statement.
Last month, Stellantis announced the permanent hiring of 114 young workers who had been on temporary contracts at its van manufacturing plant in Atessa, located in the central Abruzzo region.

Since its formation through the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group in early 2021, Stellantis has relied primarily on voluntary layoffs to streamline its workforce in Italy.
The company’s Italian headcount has declined from approximately 55,000 employees at the time of the merger to around 38,000 currently.
