Voyah, the premium electric vehicle brand of Dongfeng Motor, has opened pre-sales for its new Passion S all-electric sport utility vehicle in China, targeting the fast-growing premium electric SUV market led by models such as Xiaomi’s YU7.
The company announced a pre-sale price of 309,900 yuan ($45,610) for the flagship all-wheel-drive Ultra+ variant, while pricing for additional versions has yet to be disclosed.
Strong Initial Response
Voyah said the Passion S received 10,347 pre-orders within the first hour after pre-sales began, reflecting early interest in the model as competition intensifies in China’s premium electric vehicle market.
Positioned as a mid-to-large electric SUV aimed at younger buyers, the Passion S measures 5,050 millimeters in length, 1,998 millimeters in width and 1,656 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 millimeters. Its dimensions place it in the same class as Xiaomi’s YU7.
The flagship all-wheel-drive version combines a 175-kilowatt front motor with a 300-kilowatt rear motor, delivering a total output of 475 kilowatts (637 horsepower). Voyah said the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in the three-second range.
Power is supplied by a 98.1-kWh battery pack, providing a claimed CLTC driving range of 700 kilometers.
The company has also filed regulatory documents for a rear-wheel-drive version equipped with a single 300-kilowatt motor and a maximum CLTC range of 740 kilometers.
Huawei Technology Highlights
The Passion S is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 advanced driver-assistance system and incorporates an 896-channel LiDAR sensor.
According to Voyah, the system can detect obstacles as small as 14 centimeters in height from a distance of up to 120 meters.
The SUV features a total of 32 sensing devices, including four LiDAR units, three forward-facing distributed 4D millimeter-wave radars, two rear millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-definition cameras and 12 ultrasonic parking sensors.
Premium SUV Competition Intensifies
The Passion S forms part of Voyah’s strategy to strengthen its premium vehicle portfolio during 2026.
The model enters one of China’s most competitive electric vehicle segments, with prices ranging roughly between 250,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan.
In addition to Xiaomi’s YU7, the Passion S will compete with models such as the Luxeed R7, another premium electric SUV that also incorporates Huawei’s Qiankun driver-assistance platform.
The Passion S has also drawn attention for its exterior styling, with some observers noting similarities to the Ferrari Purosangue and referring to it as an “FUV,” or Ferrari Utility Vehicle, although Voyah has not characterized the model using that description.
