Chrysler will be the first brand of Stellantis to introduce new infotainment technology in North America, which will be based on the upcoming STLA electric vehicle platform. This technology will include large infotainment screens covering the entire dashboard, as well as autonomous features.
The automaker is showcasing this technology with a cockpit concept at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The concept, called the Chrysler Synthesis cockpit, features 37.2 inches of screens for the front row passengers on two large glass sections that stretch across the entire dashboard. The design of the cockpit is based on the Airflow Concept, which was first presented by Chrysler at CES 2022. The cockpit concept can be played with online for those unable to attend the show in person.
Chrysler’s new infotainment system will be powered by advanced AI technology that will learn the owner’s preferences over time. The system will also have over-the-air updates, allowing the automaker to keep the software contained within the “STLA Brain” up to date and exciting.
In addition, the system will include a virtual assistant that can synchronize all aspects of the owner’s day, both inside and outside of the vehicle. The assistant will be able to suggest driving routes, recommend parking and charging locations, connect to a smart home, and assist with e-commerce services, according to Chrysler.
Chrysler’s STLA platform will offer level three autonomous driving, using the STLA AutoDrive technology. This will allow drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel and their eyes off the road.
The interior design of the cockpit includes eco-friendly materials such as recycled plastics and vegetable-tanned leather, as well as suspended seats and the absence of chrome. These choices result in a modern and luxurious appeal, with features like a heather dash pad and textile-infused walnut flooring.
At CES, visitors will be able to see a simulated day in the life of a future Chrysler owner, starting with a “welcome” feature that plans an intelligent route and handles autonomous driving, managing the charge status and parking. Attendees will also be able to experience the Chill, Zen, and Fun modes that create an in-car experience that allows occupants to create their own music while being driven autonomously.
Chrysler plans to introduce its first all-electric vehicle in 2025 and aims to have a fully-electrified lineup by 2028.
