Stellantis, the owner of Fiat, has announced its commitment to continue manufacturing the fully electric (BEV) Fiat 500 small car, as well as future versions of the vehicle, in Turin.
This decision comes amidst political and media speculation regarding potential plant closures in Italy, particularly at the Mirafiori complex in Turin and Pomigliano near Naples.

CEO Carlos Tavares emphasized the importance of all Italian facilities for Stellantis to achieve its long-term output goals in the country. In a statement released after meetings with local authorities and unions in Turin, Stellantis affirmed that the future of the Fiat 500 BEV “will always be linked to the city of Turin, which should be considered the home of the 500.”
Stellantis also expressed optimism about increasing the Fiat 500 BEV output, citing a new auto purchase incentive scheme launched by Rome earlier in the month. This initiative is expected to help boost production levels following current stops and slowdowns due to weak demand.

Furthermore, Stellantis announced plans to commence assembly of the BEV GranCabrio model of its Maserati luxury brand in Mirafiori. This addition complements the already produced Maserati BEV GranTurismo. The company also revealed that three additional BEV models planned by Maserati between 2025 and 2028 will all be manufactured in Italy.
