Stelato, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), unveiled an updated version of its S9 sedan on Thursday, retaining the starting price of RMB 309,800 ($43,540) while adding upgraded configurations. The company said the model’s refreshed design and expanded feature set aim to strengthen its position in China’s premium sedan market.

The latest S9 maintains the launch price of its predecessor and reflects an RMB 8,200 reduction from the pre-sales price announced in early November. The model competes with high-end sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6L. “This update marks an important step forward for the Stelato brand,” the company said during the launch presentation.

The updated sedan has been widened to 2,005 mm and raised to 1,492 mm, while keeping its 5,160 mm length and 3,050 mm wheelbase. It now carries Stelato’s own logo for the first time, replacing the previous use of English lettering on the S9 and S9T wagon. Exterior refinements include revised taillights and door details aimed at enhancing its premium appeal.

Stelato continues to offer the S9 in two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions and two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions. The BEV models are priced from RMB 329,800 to RMB 369,800, while the EREV variants start between RMB 309,800 and RMB 349,800. The BEV rear-wheel-drive version is equipped with a 227-kW rear motor, with the all-wheel-drive version adding a 158-kW front motor for 0–100 km/h acceleration as quick as 3.92 seconds.

The BEV models feature a 100-kWh ternary lithium battery pack offering CLTC ranges of 721 km or 816 km. EREV versions use a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender and are available with either a 37-kWh LFP battery or a 100-kWh ternary lithium pack, delivering pure-electric CLTC ranges of 260 km or 372 km. Combined with a full fuel tank, total CLTC ranges reach 1,275 km and 1,378 km respectively.

Stelato is one of five vehicle brands under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), which also includes Aito, Luxeed, Maextro and Shangjie. The original S9 sedan was introduced in August 2024, followed by the S9T station wagon in September. HIMA-branded vehicles delivered 68,216 units in October, according to data released on November 1, though Stelato’s standalone figures were not disclosed.
