South Korea has inaugurated its largest electric vehicle fast-charging hub at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang, about 20 kilometres northwest of Seoul, as part of the country’s efforts to expand EV infrastructure.
The new hub was developed by Water, a fast-charging network unit of Brite Energy Partners, and is capable of simultaneously serving up to 46 electric vehicles. The installation includes 14 chargers with 100 kW output and four 200 kW chargers in Zone A, along with five 100 kW chargers in Zone B. All units are dual-gun chargers, enhancing throughput capacity.

Located in the outdoor parking areas of KINTEX Exhibition Center 2, the charging facility is expected to significantly reduce wait times at one of the busiest venues in the country. “KINTEX attracts approximately 5.8 million people annually and the new 46 fast-charging points will help reduce the charging wait times,” said Yoo Dae-won, CEO of Water. He added that the station would also accommodate electric buses and commercial vehicles.
Charging fees are set at 320 won (0.20 euros) per kWh. According to a statement from Goyang City, vehicles such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 40 minutes using a 100 kW charger, or 20 minutes with a 200 kW charger.

The Goyang facility is part of a broader initiative to install 112 dual-gun fast chargers across 52 locations in the city. The full network will include 62 chargers with a 100 kW peak output and 50 with a 200 kW peak output, aiming to serve around 4,000 EVs per day.
Separately, Brite Energy Partners last year partnered with Korea Expressway Corporation to deploy 209 ultra-fast chargers at 46 highway service areas. All installations will support both NACS and CCS connectors, marking a first in South Korea.
