Solaris Bus & Coach and MZA Warsaw have signed a contract for the delivery of 79 electric buses, including 50 articulated Urbino 18 models and 29 Urbino 12 buses. The agreement also includes an option for an additional 79 vehicles.
The buses will feature a modular drive system that eliminates the engine tower, increasing passenger space and providing room for rooftop battery placement. Solaris High Energy batteries will power the fleet, with capacities exceeding 500 kWh for the 12-meter buses and more than 700 kWh for the articulated models. Charging will be via plug-in connectors, and the buses will include safety systems such as blind spot monitoring and driver drowsiness warnings, in line with GSR2 regulations. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
Agata Stańda, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, said the deal reflected continued trust and recognition of the quality and reliability of Solaris vehicles, adding: “We are proud to have been part of this transformation for many years and, together with MZA Warsaw, to set an example in decarbonizing urban mobility.”
Jan Kuźmiński, CEO of MZA Warsaw, said the order would significantly expand the city’s electric bus fleet, noting that up to 258 zero-emission buses could arrive in the coming months. “This is another major step toward a green, eco-friendly capital city and reinforces our position as one of Europe’s leaders in zero-emission transport,” he said.
Solaris and MZA Warsaw have collaborated for 28 years. Solaris electric buses first entered service in Warsaw in 2015, and the company has delivered a total of 163 electric buses to the city to date. Since the partnership began, Solaris has supplied nearly 1,350 vehicles to the Polish capital.
