Solaris, the manufacturer of electric buses, has clinched a new order from the public transport operator in Opole, Poland. The order comprises nine Urbino 12 Electric buses, scheduled for delivery by Solaris in the latter half of 2024, along with the necessary charging infrastructure. This development marks another chapter in the longstanding collaboration between MZK Opole and Solaris, with the partnership dating back to 2020.

MZK Opole had initially placed an order for these electric buses at the end of 2022. Notably, the transport operator in Opole already operates 15 Solaris buses, including five electric ones. The new order includes an additional eight electric buses, set to join the fleet in the coming weeks.

With the addition of these nine Urbino 12 Electric buses, Opole’s total Solaris electric bus fleet will reach 22 vehicles by next year. This impressive number accounts for nearly one-fifth of MZK Opole’s entire bus fleet.

Apart from the Opole order, Solaris is also making strides in the delivery of 25 hydrogen buses, which were ordered in October 2022 by the transport company MPK in Poznan, Poland. The initial two of these hydrogen-powered buses have already arrived in Poznan, with the remaining units expected to be delivered by the end of this year.

Solaris continues to play a pivotal role in the expansion of eco-friendly public transportation options in Poland, contributing to reduced emissions and a greener future for urban mobility in the country.
