Solaris has announced new contracts to supply electric buses in the Scandinavian market, specifically in Sweden. Nobina, Scandinavia’s largest public transport operator, has placed an order for a total of 88 electric buses from Solaris for its operations in three regions: SkĂ„ne, VĂ€rmland, and Malmö.
The order consists of 18 Urbino 18 electric articulated buses and 70 Urbino 15 LE electric three-axle buses, which are also approved for intercity services. Deliveries are scheduled for 2024 and 2025.

Olivier Michard, Member of the Management Board for Sales and Marketing at Solaris Bus & Coach, expressed enthusiasm about the new orders, stating, “These new orders mark another significant step towards greener public transport solutions in Sweden. We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Nobina and be a part of the implementation of zero-emission solutions also in suburban transportation. We believe it is crucial for the global transformation of mobility.”
The Urbino 15 LE electric buses ordered for the SkÄne and VÀrmland regions will be powered by a 240 kW central motor and Solaris High Energy batteries with a total capacity of over 560 kWh. This setup allows for smooth operation throughout the day, with overnight charging via a plug-in system. The buses are equipped with the Scandinavian package, making them suitable for challenging weather conditions. Additionally, the operator has opted for additional outside lighting above the door to facilitate boarding and alighting of passengers at dusk.
