German automaker Smart has announced the launch of its latest electric vehicle, the Smart #1 Pulse. Set to debut on German roads in 2023, the #1 Pulse presents an enticing option for electric car enthusiasts. Interested buyers can now place their orders, with prices starting at 46,490 euros. The release in other European markets is expected to follow soon.

One of the notable upgrades in the Smart #1 Pulse is the inclusion of an additional engine, which complements the existing 200 kW rear-wheel drive. This configuration brings the total power output to an impressive 315 kW, similar to the performance-oriented Brabus offshoot. Smart claims that the #1 Pulse occupies a middle ground between the ‘Premium’ model, which boasts 200 kW, and the Brabus variant, which offers slightly higher specifications. It’s worth mentioning that the 66 kWh battery remains consistent across all versions of the #1 series.

Technological advancements abound in the new model, with the #1 Pulse equipped with a heat pump and a 22 kW on-board charger. Standard features include a 360-degree camera, a halo roof, a 10-inch head-up display, and a tailgate featuring gesture control. Additionally, the vehicle incorporates a range of assistance systems to enhance safety and convenience. However, notable omissions from the #1 Premium model, according to the blog “MB Passion,” are the Matrix LED headlights and the Beats sound system.

The Smart #1 Pulse exhibits impressive acceleration capabilities, with a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) time of 4.5 seconds. In comparison, the Brabus model achieves this feat in just 3.9 seconds, highlighting the unique drive characteristics Smart has employed. The 315 kW all-wheel-drive version, similar to its rear-wheel-drive counterparts, can also tow trailers weighing up to 1,600 kilograms.

Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart Europe, expressed enthusiasm for the #1 Pulse, particularly due to its all-wheel-drive option, which caters to the evolving demands of European customers. Adelmann further emphasized Smart’s commitment to quickly adapting to changing market needs and incorporating suitable solutions for their valued customers.

With the introduction of the Smart #1 Pulse, Smart continues to innovate in the electric vehicle sector, offering enhanced performance, cutting-edge features, and a range of options to cater to the diverse preferences of electric car enthusiasts across Europe.
