BRP, the Canadian manufacturer of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and personal watercraft, has been making waves with its plans for electrification. Last year, the company revealed two new electric models: the Origin and Pulse, and now its sister brands, Ski-Doo and Lynx, are following in their footsteps.
The companies have announced their plans to launch their first-ever electric snowmobiles in 2024. The lineup will include the Ski-Doo Grand Touring Electric and the Lynx Adventure Electric, both of which closely resemble their traditional, ICE-powered counterparts. Not only do they promise emissions-free fun, but also an enjoyable experience for beginners and veterans alike.

While details are scarce, both models will use Rotax E-Power technology and boast a range of up to 31 miles (50 km). However, the snowmobiles will not be available for purchase by individual customers; they are exclusively designed and built for Uncharted Society outfitters and tour operators who offer guided excursions in North America and Europe.
Despite this limitation, BRP is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, and the electric snowmobiles mark the company’s first step towards offering electric models in all of its product lines by 2026. The Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles will be joined by the Can-Am Origin and Pulse motorcycles in 2024, as well as the Sea-Doo Rise electric hydrofoil.

With more companies following suit, we can expect to see a significant reduction in carbon emissions from recreational vehicles in the years to come.
