Shenlan S7, the latest model from the Shenlan EV brand, has recently been unveiled at Changan’s factory in Nanjing, China. Following the successful launch of the Shenlan SL03, the S7 is set to be released in late June of this year. With a pre-sale price range of 169,900 – 239,900 yuan (approximately 23,900 – 33,800 USD), the Shenlan S7 will directly compete with other electric vehicles like the BYD Song Plus DM-i and Haval Xiaolong Max.
The Shenlan EV brand is a collaborative effort between Changan, leading battery manufacturer CATL, and technology giant Huawei. The S7 offers consumers the choice between three versions: EREV (extended range electric vehicle), BEV (battery electric vehicle), and hydrogen fuel cell electric.
The BEV model of the Shenlan S7 is equipped with a 160 kW motor, allowing for a remarkable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. Additionally, it boasts an impressive power consumption rate of 14.2 kWh/100km. The BEV model offers two CLTC pure electric cruising ranges of 520 km and 620 km. On the other hand, the EREV model combines a 175 kW motor with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, providing a maximum power of 70 kW. It offers two pure electric cruising ranges of 121 km and 200 km, with a fuel consumption rate as low as 4.95L/100km.
As a mid-size SUV, the Shenlan S7 features dimensions of 4750/1930/1625mm and a wheelbase of 2900mm. The vehicle is designed with frameless doors, hidden handles, and double-layer glass to minimize external noise during driving. It rides on 21-inch rims and boasts a drag coefficient of 0.258Cd, according to Shenlan’s claims.
Inside the S7, a 12.3-inch heads-up display (HUD) and a central infotainment screen take center stage. The dashboard and center console are absent of physical buttons, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic. The compute platform is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Notably, wireless smartphone charging and over-the-air (OTA) upgrades are also included.
One of the highlighted features of the Shenlan S7 is its front-row seats, which claim to be the world’s first double zero-gravity massage seats. These seats aim to provide a unique “zero-gravity” experience similar to that of a space capsule, complete with electric leg rests. The driver’s seat offers 16-way electric adjustment, while the co-pilot’s seat provides 14-way electric adjustment.
With its impressive specifications and features, the Shenlan S7 represents a significant step forward in the electric vehicle market. As it prepares for its official launch, consumers can look forward to experiencing the innovation and technology that this new model has to offer.
