Logistics company Girteka has partnered with Scania to procure electric trucks for up to 600 vehicles, a partnership that will continue over the next four years, with an additional focus on human sustainability, including further enhancements in the driver experience.
At the same time, Girteka will collaborate on building charging infrastructure and optimizing charging solutions. The aim is to help reduce Girteka customers’ climate emissions at a competitive cost.
âWe are delighted to be working with Girteka, who share our goal of making the transportation system more sustainable,â said Executive Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing Scania, Stefano Fedel.
According to Stefano, in addition to the agreement on electric vehicles, sustainable transportation improvements will be realized with the deployment of vehicles with Scania’s new Super powertrain, which provides eight percent fuel savings compared to the previous generation.
âAs part of our goal to achieve a significant share of electric truck sales in the coming years, it is imperative to partner with key stakeholders in the European transport ecosystem. It is also interesting to have the opportunity to work together on other aspects, including human sustainability,” he said.
CEO of ClassTrucks, the transport asset management company of Girteka, Mindaugas Pasilauskas said the collaboration with Scania was the next step in his journey to become a top ten logistics company in Europe.
“With the aim of moving road transport in a sustainable direction, we join forces with Scania to share experiences and collaborate in developing the future transport system in Europe,” he said.
Girteka, said Mindaugas will do this by diversifying road transportation, where it implements fuel-efficient solutions and electric trucks, to provide affordable logistics services, based on sustainable solutions.
âSustainability also means safety and comfort for drivers, so I am pleased that we, together with Scania, can contribute to the growth of overall safety on European roads, with mutual benefits for our customers, employees and communities,â he added.
