Rivian is set to launch its Electric Delivery Van (EDV) to customers outside of Amazon in the coming weeks, marking a significant step in expanding its market reach. This move will allow companies outside the e-commerce giant to purchase the EDV for their own commercial package delivery needs.
The EDV, priced starting at $83,000, is expected to be one of the few electric vans designed specifically for commercial use. Its features make it an attractive option for businesses seeking to adopt sustainable practices and reduce their carbon footprints.

One such company is AT&T, which launched an EV pilot program in December 2023. As part of this program, AT&T committed to purchasing Rivian EDVs for its fleet.
“We’re excited to purchase Rivian EVs for our fleet. This pilot is another important step in our ongoing efforts toward sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint and embracing a cleaner future for our operations,” said Hardmon Williams, Senior Vice President at AT&T Connected Solutions. “With advanced connectivity and a vision for a sustainable future, Rivian is setting the standard for the evolving demands of modern transportation.”

Rivian’s CEO, RJ Scaringe, also confirmed the agreement with AT&T for the EDVs. While Rivian has had an exclusive deal with Amazon since 2019, Amazon’s commitment to purchase 100,000 units of the EDV is well underway, with 20,000 units delivered as of last month. The company’s expansion into broader commercial markets marks a pivotal shift as Rivian begins offering the EDV to other corporations beyond its partnership with Amazon.
