California-based Reyes Beverage Group (RBG) has taken delivery of 20 new Freightliner eCascadia battery-electric trucks from Daimler Truck North America, with an additional nine units expected by the end of the year. The company is working towards transitioning its entire fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2039.

The first batch of Class 8 electric trucks will be based at RBG’s Huntington Beach warehouse in Orange County, with the additional units to be deployed at their San Bernardino facility. These electric trucks will be charged at their respective locations. RBG’s eCascadia trucks are expected to have a driving range of 220 miles (354 kilometers), suggesting that the company opted for the largest available battery pack, which has a capacity of 438 kWh. Recharging to 80% capacity takes around 90 minutes.

Tom Reyes, President of RBG West, stated, “We are excited to be among the first in our industry to adopt these electric vehicles. This is a significant step toward our sustainability goals and ensuring compliance with state regulation as we transition our fleet to EV.”

Daimler Truck North America launched the eCascadia in 2022, designed for local and regional distribution and last-mile logistics, with a maximum range of 370 kilometers. The truck is intended to help reduce emissions and support companies like RBG in their sustainability efforts.
