Daimler Truck North America has assisted Reyes Beverage Group (RGB) in deploying 29 zero-emission Freightliner eCascadia Class 8 electric semi trucks in California. The trucks will serve RGB’s California delivery fleet, marking a significant step in the company’s transition to a fully zero-emission truck fleet by 2039.

The first 20 eCascadias will be stationed at RGB’s Golden Brands – East Bay and Harbor Distributing – Huntington Beach warehouses, with an additional nine trucks set for deployment at the Gate City Beverage – San Bernardino warehouse by the end of 2024. This initiative builds on RGB’s earlier shift to renewable diesel and its ongoing efforts to reduce idle-time, supporting the company’s goal of cutting carbon emissions by 60% by 2030.

Tom Reyes, President of RGB West, expressed enthusiasm about the adoption of electric trucks, calling it a “significant step” toward sustainability goals and compliance with state regulations. The Freightliner eCascadia trucks will help RGB save around 98,000 gallons of diesel annually and reduce nearly 700 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, contributing to cleaner air in California.

The eCascadia offers various configurations with driving ranges between 155 and 230 miles, ensuring it meets RGB’s performance and load capacity requirements. RGB’s trucks will recharge at on-site electric charging stations, reaching 80% capacity in just 90 minutes, with an estimated driving range of 220 miles per charge for its current fleet setup.
