Revel, an electric vehicle charge point operator, is partnering with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to install 24 fast charging stations at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The new chargers, located at For-Hire Vehicle Hold Lot 1, are expected to be operational by early 2025 and will serve public and rental vehicle customers. This expansion will increase JFKā€™s total publicly accessible fast charging ports to 46.

The initiative supports the Port Authorityā€™s broader net-zero carbon emissions goal for 2050. Alongside public access, plans include developing charging infrastructure for electric airside vehicles and converting 50% of the light-duty fleet to electric by 2028. Current ground service vehicle charging ports across the aviation network already contribute to reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 16,300 tons annually.

Kevin Oā€™Toole, Chairman of the Port Authority, emphasized the importance of accessible EV infrastructure, stating, ā€œWe want to support the shift to clean energy at our facilities, and that includes partnering with companies like Revel to make sure electric vehicle charging infrastructure is available, accessible and convenient for everyone.ā€

Revelā€™s CEO, Frank Reig, highlighted the significance of airport charging hubs for electrification efforts, noting, ā€œItā€™s impossible to electrify rideshare without an abundance of charging near the airports.ā€ The company is also working on deploying 48 fast charging ports near LaGuardia Airport, with completion targeted for late 2025.

This project at JFK marks the second collaboration between Revel and the Port Authority, following previous EV infrastructure developments, including a fast-charging hub in Lower Manhattan. Revelā€™s growing focus on expanding EV infrastructure aligns with the Port Authorityā€™s commitment to supporting clean energy and accessible charging solutions.
