Renault’s performance brand Alpine has unveiled the A390, its second electric production vehicle and the first all-electric crossover from the French marque. The vehicle, built on Renault’s AmpR Medium platform, features a distinctive three-motor, all-wheel-drive layout and promises high-performance capabilities with a range of up to 555 kilometres.

At launch, the A390 will be offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, powered by three electric motors—one on the front axle and two on the rear. This configuration enables the Alpine Active Torque Vectoring System, allowing precise distribution of torque between the rear wheels during cornering.

“The handling of the A390 should resemble that of a rear-wheel drive vehicle,” Alpine said in a statement, noting the front motor is designed to activate only when additional traction is needed.

Alpine will offer two power variants: a 294 kW base version and a more powerful 346 kW GTS version, both delivering up to 808 Nm of torque. All three motors are produced at Renault’s Cléon plant, while the high-density battery pack—featuring NMC cells—is supplied by Verkor and assembled by Ampere. The 89 kWh battery enables the A390 to maintain peak performance even at lower charge levels, according to the company.

Fast charging is supported at up to 190 kW, with Alpine emphasizing sustained charging performance over peak power. A 15% to 20% top-up takes under 25 minutes, and a 20-minute charge can provide enough energy for approximately two hours of motorway driving. An 11 kW onboard charger comes standard, with an optional 22 kW upgrade. Bidirectional charging capabilities including V2L and V2G are integrated, though grid feedback functionality will depend on local regulations.

With a 4.62-metre body length and coupe-like profile, Alpine describes the A390 as a “Sport Fastback,” blending aerodynamic elements with design cues from the A110. The vehicle incorporates several features from the A390_β concept, including a sculpted bonnet and French-sourced components such as Michelin-developed tires and a sound system from Devialet.

Production will take place at Alpine’s Dieppe plant, with initial orders expected to open in Q4 2025. Alpine estimates the A390 will be priced between €65,000 and €76,000 in its GT and GTS variants.
