Renault Trucks has proclaimed that it has attained an impressive market share of 24.2 per cent in the medium- and heavy-duty electric truck sector in Europe for the year 2022. The Volvo Group-owned company sold a total of 379 units of the E-Tech D and E-Tech D Wide models in Europe throughout the previous year, a new release from the company states.
The company’s market share figure in Europe is accompanied by a separate sales statistic for France, where Renault Trucks managed to sell as much as 75 per cent of the medium and heavy-duty electric trucks that were sold in the country in 2022. Renault Trucks further announced the production of its 1,000th medium-duty BEV truck in Blainville-sur-Orne in October 2022. The manufacturer has plans to start production of its heavy-duty e-trucks, Renault Trucks E-Tech T for regional distribution transport and Renault Trucks E-Tech C for urban construction transport, at its Bourg-en-Bresse plant at the conclusion of 2023.

Renault Trucks recorded sales of 268 E-Tech Master electric transporters in 2022, in addition to the electric trucks sold. The French manufacturer reports that it has received more than 1,700 orders for electric vehicles as of 2022. The company has set a target that by the year 2030, 50 per cent of the vehicles it sells will be electric. Moreover, from 2040 onwards, Renault Trucks intends to solely introduce trucks that are 100 per cent devoid of fossil fuels.
The aforementioned market share figure in Europe relates only to medium- and heavy-duty trucks, whereas Volvo Trucks, another subsidiary of the Volvo Group, recently disclosed its sales statistics for the previous year, stating that the manufacturer held a 32 per cent market share in Europe. However, this figure pertains only to heavy electric trucks, which are anticipated to have reached 1,041 units in Europe in 2022.
Renault Trucks recently secured contracts with new customers, which include logistics company XPO in France (who ordered 100 electric trucks), the city of Barcelona (who ordered 73 electric trucks for waste disposal and street cleaning), Coca-Cola (who ordered 30 electric trucks in Belgium), and service provider Sepur, which recently put 18 Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide trucks into service for waste disposal in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
