Renault Group has produced more than one million electric vehicles in France since 2010, marking a milestone in the company’s expansion of domestic battery-electric vehicle manufacturing.

The automaker said approximately 600,000 of those vehicles have been built at its Electricity production hub in northern France, which includes the Douai and Maubeuge manufacturing facilities.

The milestone comes after Renault invested €13 billion (US$14.95 billion) in its French electric vehicle operations since 2021. The company has also committed an additional €13 billion under its futuREady mid-term strategy.

Northern France Hub Expands Production

Renault said the Electricity manufacturing hub has developed into one of Europe’s largest centers for electric vehicle production over the past five years.

The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has been a major contributor to that growth. According to the company, production of the model reached 100,000 units by the end of 2025 and is expected to exceed 200,000 units since its launch.

The manufacturing hub now produces vehicles for several Renault Group brands, including Renault, Alpine, Nissan and Mitsubishi. The company also plans to add Ford production at the site.

Investment Supports Employment

Renault Group said it directly employs about 39,000 people across its French operations, while an estimated 35,000 additional jobs are supported through its supplier network.

Between 2022 and 2025, the company created 700 permanent positions at the Electricity hub and plans to recruit another 300 employees by 2027.

Renault Reaffirms French Manufacturing Strategy

Chief Executive Officer François Provost said the production milestone reflects the company’s long-term commitment to electric vehicle manufacturing in France.

“A source of collective pride.”

Provost said the achievement demonstrates Renault’s continued investment in domestic industrial capabilities as the company competes in the global electric vehicle market.

Renault has positioned France as the center of its European electric vehicle production strategy while continuing to expand manufacturing capacity for next-generation battery-electric models.
