Renault said on Monday that production of its Renault 5 E-Tech electric hatchback has reached 100,000 units at its Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai, northern France, just 15 months after the model entered the market.
The milestone was reached on Dec. 2, 2025, highlighting the rapid ramp-up of output for the retro-styled electric model, which the automaker has positioned as a key player in Europe’s fast-growing electric B-segment. The Douai facility currently builds around 900 vehicles per day, with the Renault 5 accounting for roughly two-thirds of daily production.

The plant operates a single flexible assembly line that produces six electric models: the Renault 5, Renault Megane E-Tech, Renault Scenic E-Tech, Alpine A290, Nissan Micra and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. To meet demand, the workforce runs a three-shift system, including a night shift that has been operating at half of daytime output since mid-October. The 100,000th unit produced was a Techno trim version fitted with a 52 kWh battery, now the most common configuration at the site.
Renault has structured its supply chain around the wider Ampere ElectriCity industrial cluster to shorten logistics routes and improve production efficiency. About two-thirds of suppliers are located within 300 kilometres of Douai. Electric motors are produced at Renault’s Cléon plant, while the Ruitz facility manufactures drivetrain pinions and, through a joint venture with Minth Electricity Technology, battery casings. The Maubeuge plant completes the regional network by assembling the Renault 4 E-Tech.

The Renault 5 E-Tech holds the “Origine France Garantie” certification, reflecting its high level of local content. In sales terms, the model currently leads the overall electric vehicle market in France and topped UK EV registrations in October. It also leads its segment in the Netherlands and Spain.
Beyond core European markets, Renault has begun exporting the Renault 5 E-Tech to Turkey and Israel, with Morocco added to the distribution network last month. The company said further international market entries are scheduled for 2026.
