Range Rover is preparing to introduce the GT, a new addition to its model range that will debut as a battery-electric vehicle built on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).
The model is currently undergoing its final global validation program ahead of its planned market launch later this year.
First Range Rover on EMA Platform
The GT will become the first Range Rover model to use JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture, which is intended for the company’s smaller electrified vehicles.
Production will take place at JLR’s Halewood plant in the United Kingdom, where the model will be manufactured alongside combustion-engine and hybrid vehicles.
At launch, the GT will be offered exclusively with a battery-electric powertrain. However, JLR said the EMA platform is capable of supporting additional powertrain configurations, including a full-hybrid version planned for a later stage of the model’s lifecycle.
The company has not yet released technical specifications such as battery capacity, driving range, power output or charging performance.
New Design Focuses on Electric Grand Touring
The GT adopts a lower, coupe-inspired profile compared with existing Range Rover models while retaining the off-road capability associated with the brand.
According to Range Rover, the model is intended to combine electric driving characteristics with long-distance comfort and off-road performance.
“The combination of effortless electric performance, outstanding long-distance comfort and off-road capability is quintessentially Range Rover,” said Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover.
Interior Features Minimalist Layout
Range Rover has also previewed the vehicle’s interior, which features a simplified dashboard design centered around a touchscreen infotainment display and a separate digital driver instrument cluster.
Air vents and audio components have been integrated into the dashboard, while textile materials feature prominently throughout the cabin.
The company said rear-seat passengers will benefit from increased legroom but has not disclosed detailed interior dimensions.
Part of Broader Electrification Strategy
The GT forms part of JLR’s expanding electric vehicle program.
Future models based on the EMA platform are expected to include the electric Range Rover Velar, while larger vehicles such as the Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric will use the company’s Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA).
JLR confirmed in 2025 that it had delayed the launch of several electric vehicles to allow for additional testing and to respond to changing market conditions.
The company said further information on the Range Rover GT, including technical specifications and performance figures, will be released closer to the vehicle’s official launch.
