Prestone will display its Prestone EVX™ thermal management fluids for electric and hybrid vehicles at The Battery Show North America in Detroit. The fluids are designed to improve charging times, driving range, and safety while meeting evolving industry standards.
The EVX™ portfolio includes formulations tailored for light-duty, heavy-duty, and fuel cell applications. The fluids meet the GB29743.2 standard in China, aimed at enhancing safety by reducing coolant electrical conductivity, and the ASTM D8566 standard, which focuses on minimizing risks if coolant contacts batteries. Prestone said its fluids offer low conductivity, extended corrosion protection, and strong chemical stability.
Prestone has also developed proprietary high-voltage testing in partnership with Exoes, a thermal management testing firm, to assess fluid performance under conditions simulating real-world EV operation. During tests at 800 volts, conventional fluids combusted in less than a second, while Prestone EVX™ fluids prevented combustion entirely.
The company currently supplies more than three million gallons of EV thermal management fluids annually to vehicle manufacturers and supports applications beyond automotive, including mining, construction, and agriculture.
