How is the development of the Macan EV? Porsche has not provided many of the latest updates regarding this electric car even though the release time is getting closer, namely in 2024.
However, now manufacturers are starting to speak up and provide information, including claims to be the first Porsche model to use Premium Platform Electric (PPE). This electric vehicle platform was developed specifically with Audi.
The PPE EV platform is set to use an 800V electrical system, while Porsche will use a 100 kWh battery pack. According to the manufacturer, this is the ideal size for superior range and performance.
Porsche also says it plans to further increase charging speeds (above the Taycan's 270 kW) with a target reload rate of 5% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
The German automaker's PPE platform will be designed for both rear- and all-wheel drive systems. The two liquid-cooled motors will deliver up to 603 hp and 738 lb.-ft. torque.
Porsche will also swap silicon semiconductors for silicon carbide, which is more suitable for higher power models.
The rear motor will be mounted behind the rear axle, like the 911, which Porsche calls the Performance Rear Axle. This approach gives the Macan EV a better weight balance of 48 to 52% from front to rear.
Delivery of the Macan EV is slated for 2024, with Porsche targeting an official release in late 2023 or 2024 while finalizing the tuning.
