Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and ChargePoint have joined forces to integrate the ChargePoint network into the Porsche Charging Service, enhancing the EV charging experience for Porsche customers. This collaboration allows drivers to access the extensive ChargePoint network through the convenience of the My Porsche app.
Expected to launch in the 4th quarter of 2024, this integration will significantly bolster the number of EV charging stations available to Porsche drivers in the US. PCNA estimates that the partnership will provide access to 86,000 charging stations. However, ChargePoint mentions that the app will offer access to around 100,000 chargers, including upcoming partnerships.
Timo Resch, President and CEO of PCNA, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, āWe passionately believe in choice, and as a result, we are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance our customer experience and expand charging options.ā
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, echoed this sentiment, saying, āChargePoint is honoured to help Porsche provide their drivers with a charging experience that aligns with the rest of their renowned brand experience.ā
Porsche is not limiting its efforts to the US market. The company recently opened its fourth Porsche Charging Lounge in Ingolstadt, Germany, offering four fast-chargers with 400 kW and four 22 kW AC charging points. This expansion reflects Porsche’s commitment to providing convenient charging solutions for its growing EV customer base.
Furthermore, Porsche is expanding its presence in Europe, with plans to establish more charging lounges along major traffic routes, focusing initially on Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In Spain, Porsche has partnered with Iberdrola to create the ‘Porsche Iberdrola High Power Charging Network,’ with the first charging park in Elche already operational since February 2022.
These initiatives underscore Porsche’s dedication to enhancing the EV driving experience, ensuring that customers can enjoy the renowned Porsche brand experience while driving electric vehicles.
